Commonwealth Games 2010

The Commonwealth Games is one of the most celebrated sports tournaments of the world. This fall, India will become the third developing country after Jamaica and Malaysia to host the Commonwealth Games. More than 70 nations are planning to send their sports teams to compete at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

While the official list of athletes selected to represent Canada at the Games in Delhi has yet to be made public, among those who have been chosen — or are likely to be selected — are five Indo-Canadians, who will compete in field hockey, weightlifting, wrestling and lawn bowling.

On the following pages, we tell the stories of these five elite athletes who have dedicated countless hours to their respective sports, overcoming challenges and demonstrating the power of perseverance on their way to becoming world-class competitors.
